Benutzer:Bildhauer Netzwerk/sculpture network english
Sculpture network is Europe’s leading esteemed platform for three-dimensional art; a non-profit organisation for the support, encouragement and promotion of contemporary sculpture. It was founded in 2004, based in Munich, Germany, with regional coordinators working in several European countries. With its more than 1,000 members in 43 countries it is the biggest European organization of this kind.
History and objectives
The main objectives of sculpture network are to provide networking possibilities for artists, art professionals and art organisations interested in and involved with three-dimensional art, to promote the recognition of the uniqueness and social relevance of three-dimensional art, and to increase general awareness and understanding of this kind of art in the society.
This is mainly achieved by providing an online platform allowing the users to connect, interact and network with each other. Special events and forums such as the International Forum, or the New Year’s Brunch offer face-to-face networking opportunities. The Online-Platform furthermore gives members access to a password secured area with selected information. The website, however, allows everyone interested in three dimensional art to find relevant information.
The idea of a network for artist, art mediators and friends of the arts, stems from the sculptor Hartmut Stielow, who had experienced the effectiveness and value of such an association, while being a Board member of the International Sculpture Centre (ISC) in the US. In 2003, this idea was supported by the entrepreneur Ralf Kirberg (today Head of the Board) who helped founding sculpture network in 2004 as a not-for-profit arts organization, funded mainly through member fees and donations. Since then "Programs and Services" have been established as the back-bone of sculpture network's activities.
Program
One of the programs is the International Forum which is organized annually in cooperation with prominent art institutions. During this two-day event renowned experts and artists will address relevant subjects in contemporary three-dimensional art enriched by visits of prominent sculpture sites and collections. These forums are fantastic opportunities for networking, meeting colleagues, initiating project ideas, finding cooperation partners, promoting oneself, appreciating and enjoying sculpture.
