Florian Maier (* 1978 in Munich) is a german Stereographer and Founder/CEO of Stereotec[1].

Life

Maier grew up in Munich. From 2000 to 2006 he studied Media Technologiy at the TU Ilmenau[2]. In addition to that he was a guest student at the University of Television and Film Munich.

Allready in the nineties Maier began to investigate in the design and technology of stereoscopic 3D films[3]. As senior stereographer he was responsible for the three dimensional composition of films like Vicky and the Treasure of the Gods (Constantin Film / Rat Pack)[4][5][6], „Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters“ (Paramount Pictures)[7][8], „Return of Viy“ (Russian Film Group)[9], „Hype Nation“ (Pandora)[10][11][12] as well as commercials for companies like Volkswagen[13], Red Bull oder Sony and many short films. Furthermore he gives lectures and talks at 3D film festivals and symposiums, e.g. at the 3D Innovation Centers of the Heinrich-Herz-Instituts in Berlin[14], and workshops around the world[15], for example at the filmschool „Konrad Wolf" in Potsdam[16] and together with Alain Derobe at the European Film Academy[17]. In addition to other awards[5][18] Florian Maier was awarded with five „Lumiere Awards for Outstanding Achievement“[19][20][21] by the International 3D Society[22] in Hollywood. Florian Maier is a member of the European Film Academy[23].
