Willkommen / Welcome

Apparently, you either don’t understand German, or understand it only at a basic level. This is a welcome message to introduce you to the German Wikipedia, with the most important places and departments you may want to consult.

  • The embassy is perhaps the first place to go. There you can ask questions and get in touch with people who can translate your requests.
  • The German equivalent of the “village pump” is Questions about Wikipedia which can be used to ask questions and discuss matters of all kinds about Wikipedia. Feel free to ask questions in your preferred language, but questions in English will probably get the quickest responses as opposed to those asked in less commonly spoken languages.
  • Common requests: Request to usurp existing user accountsRequest a Bot flag.
  • You are also welcome to participate in the multilingual Adopt-a-user program.
  • For your user page: You might want to create your user page and put some babel boxes on it, so everyone knows what languages you speak. For example: “{{Babel|en|de-0}}” if you are a native English speaker, but speak no German at all.

How to help? One thing you could do is to improve this template (translate, fix errors, etc.), to help more contributors who do not speak German.

New icons

Hello I've got a question for you somone said you could do what I'm searching for; I was working on the dicography of Japanese singers here on the German wikipedia. I edited the icons for the recording certifications and there was one problem, there is only one singer in Japan who got 8 times diamond or better known as million in Japan but there are no icons for septuple and octuple. Is it possible to create them? Maybe with a new colour? - Serdar²

@Serdar²: There is a page here which lists all the record icons. If you would like to select which of the two diamond icons you'd like to use (either the gold-looking one or the white-looking one) then I can make SVG icons for 7 and 8, although they will be essentially indistinguishable from the ones for 5 and 6, so I'm not sure it is worth making them. I would recommend just using Datei:Sextuple_Diamond.png.
Also, if you have trouble contacting me here, then try contacting me on Wikimedia Commons. I check that page much more often. NikNaks (Diskussion) 16:26, 7. Sep. 2015 (CEST)
@NikNaks: Thank you for answering me! I know it's not really worth making them but it would be great if we had up to 10x diamond icons, I mean for platinum and gold we have them. Now with the digital music market the sales increased back to golden times maybe there will be someone with 8 times diamond not only in Japan. Nevertheless thanks! I will use 8x platinum or just 6x diamond for this one release. --Serdar² (Diskussion) 19:54, 11. Sep. 2015 (CEST)
