Deutsche Bezeichnung
Okay, my German is not good, for which I appologize, (Though characterizing it as "undeutsches deutsch" as some anonymus user just did, I find slightly offending...) and therefor write here in English, to avoid misunderstandings. Could somebody in "Deutsches Deutsch" add to this article the undoubted facts that A) Hochland has been inhabited by Finns as long as it has had resident population at all, until it during the second world war was evacuated, and concuered by the Soviet Union, and B) The name of the island in German is Hochland (And actually in Russian too, only the Russian "H" lies somewhere between "Г" and "X", and therefor mostly is transscribed to G in latin alphabet.) Pls compare to eg. the article about Kopenhagen, which comes under the German name, not under København! And the article about Kaliningrad at least mentions that the German name is Königsberg. My edit may have been slightly coloured by "POV", but was based on hard facts.

- Das ist nicht korrekt. Auch im Deutschen hieß (heißt) die Insel vorrangig *nicht* "Hochland". Schon in Herders Konversationslexikon (1854) hieß sie Högland, im Pierer (1857), Meyers (1905) und Brockhaus (1911) - Hogland. "Hochland" (und auch das nur als nachrangige Variante) ist selten. --Amga 17:55, 20. Jan. 2012 (CET)
