With his world-famous series of paintings "Anniversary", Nico Ross would like to express a wish, the wish for freedom, the wish to discover and experience new things. But he doesn't want to do this alone, the paintings show shadows of his friends, people he loves. He loves spending time with good friends, he loves exploring new things with them. He was inspired by a postcard from 1927 from Brighton, which he uses as the beginning of the time calculation for his paintings. On painting 100 you can see Brighton Pier at sunset, in the foreground you can clearly see the shadow of a female person, a good friend of Nico Ross, who can also be seen in painting 92. On the 100th anniversary of the postcard, the inspiration of his world famous series, he would like to express the wish to return to Brighton, why with the female friend from painting 92 is unclear, precisely because paintings 93 to 99 are still missing, it must have a special meaning.
Water with its symbolism is above all a means of his works. Water never stays in the same place and is still resistant. Which fits well with the intention of his works. In addition, the bold colors are an important component; in painting 100, the bold red sky stands out, which is supposed to convey joy, happiness, energy and warmth. With the shabby chic shades that he uses for the shadows of his friends, he tries to bring a little nostalgia, but at the same time modern and variety into his primitive works.
His primitive but beautiful way of painting makes him the most sought-after artist of the time and his paintings particularly valuable.
