"This is the Debian GNU/Linux prepackaged version of xboard, the X Window System interface to GNU Chess. xboard was written by:

* Chris Sears and Dan Sears (versions 1.0 through
  1.2)
* Tim Mann (versions 1.3 through 3.2)
* Elmar Bartel (new piece bitmaps for version 3.2)
* Wayne Christopher (color scheme and old 80x80 piece
  bitmaps, taken from XChess)
* Evan Welsh (cmail)
* John Chanak (initial implementation of ICS mode)

This package was put together by Ian Murdock <imurdock@debian.org>, from sources obtained from:

prep.ai.mit.edu:/pub/gnu

This package has been modified by Brian Mays <brian@debian.org>. Modifications of xboard package for Debian GNU/Linux Copyright (C) 1996-97 Brian Mays and are released under the GPL (on Debian systems see `/usr/doc/copyright/GPL').

Changes:

* added Debian GNU/Linux package maintenance system files
* changed installation targets from /usr/bin and /usr/games
  to /usr/games and /usr/lib/games
