If you want to communicate in the German version of Wikipedia, then you should do so in German out of respect. As a representative of the WMF, you must be able to get help if you are unable to do so yourself. The language imperialism cultivated by WMF is taking on unpleasant features. Please stop and at least treat the other major world languages equally. You can't expect us to take you seriously if you don't show the necessary respect. Precisely because English is probably not your mother tongue, you should be sensitive to this matter. Best regards --Lutheraner (Diskussion) 01:58, 5. Okt. 2021 (CEST)

Desktop-Verbesserungen

Czesc SGrabarczuk,

jak zauwazylem ze Commonist nie dziala to mi zdenerowalo i Ty jest teraz osoba ktora jest pierwsza ktora mi wyszla do glowie :P ....

  1. improving the Desktop and asking the editors. Well there might be a big gap between the needs of readers and the one who create the content. So asking the readers about the appearance of Wikipedia might be more usefull. Most(?) Editors will login so offering them a customized skin shouldn't be a challenge. Ja n.p. uzywam monobook i pisze w source code. And they have different needs. E.g. some tool where I can upload my pictures. I'm not the only one who uses the Commonist so it might be some hint, that there are issues with the upload form.
  2. Thinking about the editors: Wiem ze Ty sie w Tym sie nie zajmojesz ale wydaje mi sie ze WMF is just focussing on big money and big companies. here: Im Progress are: "Developing enterprise-level API", Partnerships to develop Wikimedia API and the damn CoC. The last one part of a self administration which gets bigger and bigger.

and please; no need for an answer. I know it: "Thx for you input. Unfortunately I can't do anything about it but we will discuss it and I will give to XY who will see what he can ... aso" .... I know this. I took WMF over 10 years of constant complaining to realise that it might be usefull for an alleged global organization that english only is bad for business. And now slowly we see from time to time translations (The languages are rather random, so the process is, well: none?) It will probably take at least ten more years to realise that the editors are the ones who bring the millions of USD for WMF. WMF is not wiki at all. Its lohi ...Sicherlich Post 15:32, 12. Hmm, pamietasz!
Different needs: how do you know what readers need? Asking Wikipedians might not be helpful. I mean its a much better approach then years ago, when they asked 8 (tak, osiem) people in the WMF office to switch the position of the search field (thats the one I remember, the rest was alike). But still: IMO you would need to ask the "pure" readers. (I mean I don't care about readers, too much. I'm and editor so :P ). If you introduce a new skin: as long as monobook still works I wouldn't care ;) )
API: would like to diversify the income - my impression is, that more money is a main driver for Wikimedia. Not only WMF but as well WMD (nie wiem o WMP). And I wonder if thats a thing which slowly scares away volunteers; Working unpaid for a multi million dollar institution, where people like Jan Eisfeldt in the "Safety and Security" act against the unpaid Community. Feels wrong to me. ...
Thats one reason I left WMD. I don't want to support such an organisation. I do the main work, I pay my trips to take pictures, I pay my equipment, i spend hours editing as - but if I just use a tiny support [e.g. paying the accreditation fee for Przstanek Woodstock] I have to put a banner on every pic to tell the world how generous WMD has been; kind of freeloader ... a damn drifted away again 😉
