You are new at Wikipedia and you’re looking for a mentor, thus an experienced user who helps you by doing your first steps at Wikipedia? In order to call our attention that you need help, you have to post a note on your user page firstly. The following instructions will explain to you how to do it:
Sign in
If you haven’t created an account yet, you have to do so before the participation at the mentoring programme. Creating an account offers you some advantages you don’t have as an anonymous author.
In order to create an account you must click top right or here on “Log in” and then on “Create an account”. There you are keying in the desired data, and you are clicking on “Create account”.
Start a mentoring request
When you have successfully logged in you can call a mentor’s attention by embedding the template {{Mentor gesucht}} in your user page.
Just click on this link and afterwards on “Seite speichern”. If you have found a desired mentor in our list, you can replace {{Mentor gesucht}} by {{Mentor gesucht|Desired mentor}} whereas Desired mentor has to be changed to the mentor’s name of your choice.
The aim
If you did everything well, this or a similar box is appearing on your user page. A mentor will answer you in the near future.
