Jeremy Zucker (born March 3, 1996) is an American singer-songwriter, best known for his songs "all the kids are depressed" and "comethru". In 2015, his song titled "'Bout It", featuring Daniel James & Benjamin O, was met with commercial success and garnered millions of streams across SoundCloud and Spotify.

Early life

Originally from Franklin Lakes, New Jersey, Zucker was raised in a musical household with his parents and two older brothers. While a student at Ramapo High School, he began making music in his bedroom and later became part of a band called the “Foreshadows”. After graduating high school, he attended Colorado College where he graduated in 2018 with a degree in molecular biology.[1][2] Before producing his own music, he told Billboard in an interview that his first job was a snowboard instructor at a ski mountain (later becoming a skiing instructor).[3]

Career

Vorlage:Expand section In 2015, Zucker released "Beach Island". This EP is the oldest musical record Zucker has up on his platforms. He released his second studio EP "Breathe",[4] containing breakthrough hit "‘Bout It" in December 2016. In 2017, Zucker released his EP "Motions", featuring the song "Heavy", which later the recording artist blackbear remixed into "Make Daddy Proud", and included on his own LP Digital Druglord five months later.[5] Zucker and blackbear later collaborated on the single "talk is overrated" on Zucker's EP "idle", released in 2017. Zucker released the EP "stripped." in February 2018, then the EP titled "glisten", in May 2018. In September 2018, Zucker released the EP "summer", which contains Zucker's well known song "comethru". "comethru" is a response to the way Zucker felt after graduating college in May 2018 and moving back home to New Jersey into the same house where Zucker grew up.[6] Also featured on the EP is “thinking 2 much”, a collaboration with singer Eden.

Zucker released "oh, mexico", the lead single from his debut album "love is not dying" on July 26, 2019. The second single from the album, "always, i'll care", was released on February 7, 2020. A music video for the song was released the same day.[7] The third single off the album, "not ur friend", was released on February 28, 2020. The fourth single, "julia" was released March 24, 2020. The album was released on April 17, 2020.[8] The album is an autobiographical collection of songs that were recorded in Brooklyn during the second half of 2019.[9] On July 24, 2020, Zucker released his latest single "supercuts". Before 2021, he released with Claire Rosinkranz a new version of her song "Backyard Boy",[10] and "Nothing's The Same"[11] with Alexander 23.

In January 15, 2021, Zucker and Chelsea Cutler released their song "this is how you fall in love"[12] from their second EP. They will do a livestream show called "brent: live on the internet",[13] where they will introduce "brent ii" and unite again for some songs of "brent". On February 5, 2021, he released his latest EP with Chelsea Cutler titled "brent ii", consisting of 5 songs and serving as a sequel to their first EP together "brent".[14] Brent ii consists of the songs "this is how you fall in love", "parent song", "emily", "brooklyn boy" and "the stars".[15]

In summer 2021, Zucker released his songs "18", "HONEST", "Cry with you" and "Therapist" as singles, including his sophomore album "CRUSHER" on October 1, 2021.[16] A remix version of Tate McRaes "That Way" with Zucker was released in late summer.[17]

Zucker‘s first studio EP "West", has been deleted from all platforms.

Influences

Zucker has cited Blink-182, Jon Bellion, blackbear, Eden, Bon Iver, Mac Miller, and Wet as some of his musical influences.[18]

His music is described as "a fusion of organic airy beats, lush soundtrack-style soundscapes, and biting tumblr-worthy lyricism". Zucker describes himself as a "social introvert”.[19]
