* Poverty Sustainable Development is broadly defined by the UN: “development which meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of the future generation to meet their own needs”. This approach interns of progress development are underlying three pillars; these are social inclusion, environmental sustainability and economic prosperity. Also, “to improve the quality of life while living within the carrying capacity of the ecosystem”, said International Union for Conservation Union 1991. Sustainable Development Goals 1 "End Poverty" Is one out of 17 sustainable goals. Primarily, this goal is to eradicate this problem by 2030. Poverty is a global problem estimating 10 percent of the world population living in poverty. People are living with less than $1.90 per day. The research here is concerned with the living conditions of the worst off: those who live in ‘extreme poverty’ as defined by the United Nations. The World Bank, which is part of the UN, is the main source for global information on extreme poverty today and it sets the ‘International Poverty Line’. Poverty Goal 1: Consist of 7 target and indicators. However, target 1b: "Create sound policy frameworks at the national, regional and international levels, based on pro-poor and gender-sensitive development strategies, to support accelerated investment in poverty eradication actions." This specific target deals the eradication of poverty from the global perspective which I believed that these target isn't just to help some induvial rather its policy is for the entire globe especially those living in poverty and extreme poverty. Eradicating poverty in all its forms remains one of the greatest challenges facing humanity. While the number of people living in extreme poverty dropped by more than half between 1990 and 2015, too many are still struggling for the most basic human needs. Through the pledge to Leave No One Behind, countries have committed to fast-track progress for those furthest behind first. That is why the SDGs are designed to bring the world to several life-changing ‘zeros’, including zero poverty, hunger, AIDS and discrimination against women and girls.

Belize City: The biggest cause of poverty in Belize is not lack of or absence of wealth but rather improper distribution of the wealth that is already here. The biggest cause of this improper distribution of wealth is the kind of thinking that promotes BIG GOVERNMENT with skewed policies that favors some sectors and not others…. some investors/investments and not. The index finger of big government pointing to who will be winners and who will be losers… not allowing for people to be rewarded based on merit, ability and integrity as per our constitution is the biggest culprit for our growing wealth gap and resultant increasing poverty. Large SPENDING since Independence on “social development” programs without concurrent INVESTMENT in the development of ALL productive sectors and creation of new opportunities for honest work…is totally unsustainable and we have tasted the results of such thinking.

It is estimated that forty- three percent of people are living below the poverty rate and sixteen percent are living in extreme poverty. This is very scary and alarming especially during this pandemic which our economy is facing a tremendous loss financially. Basic needs of life such as food, water, shelter are not accessible for those who are in this bracket. So then, they would be unable to afford necessities. Therefore, other necessities such as healthcare, education, etc. will never be affordable to those living in poverty and extreme poverty.

After I did my research, I realized that more needs to be done in order to eradicate poverty in Belize. My Research questions are. 1. Why education is so expensive in Belize. People can't even afford three meals for the day. 2. Why housing isn't free for those living in poverty and extreme poverty in Belize. 3. Why is it that the minimum wage is still at $3.30per hour? This is ridiculous for someone to survive. They will forever be in poverty at such a rate. 4. What is the extent for those who are living in Poverty? What about their wellbeing? 5. Why does poverty still exist? Poverty is a major issue for Belize and more needs to be done to fix this problem. Our government needs to address the situation as soon as possible. How can these families provide a proper education for their kids when they could barely eat? What will poverty look like 5 years from now? It's not looking good base on the statistic

Organization working in Belize to eradicate poverty are: 1. UNICEF: which deals with social protection as a set of public and private policies and programmed aimed at preventing, reducing and eliminating economic and social vulnerabilities to poverty and deprivation. Their efforts in Belize are part of a global commitment to the Sustainable Development Agenda 2030. 2. Help International: Non-profit organizations like HELP International rely heavily on volunteer program fees and fundraising. As a volunteer for Belize, I have the opportunity to raise funds that will go directly toward these humanitarian projects. 3. The Ministry of Human development of Belize The Department of Human Services overall is tasked to empower people by promoting, developing and coordinating programs that will enable Belizeans to become self-sufficient, based on the principles of social justice, equity and participation, thereby contributing to the process of national development. To deliver on these tasks, various departmental entities have been established, each performing distinct functions and delivering distinct services.

Conclusion: Poverty alone possesses such a threat with the demand of resources that would need to be generated, all the pollution brings upon the environment stress in many ways. Those who are poor will destroy the earth by going into a survival mood in which they would uses any and everything to accommodate their daily needs in order to survive. They would eventually deplete the forest and cause deforestation which is a great factor, then what will happen to those of the future generation. So, then the eradication of poverty takes into factor the importance of it also on our environment and also for those living in such conditions.
