Arkar Oo (born on August 8, 1988 in Myeik) is a human rights activist from Myanmar and founder of the local NGO "Metta Let Kann" in Myeik, Southern Myanmar.

Arkar Oo graduated from a University in Yangon and was a state school and religious teacher before he founded the organization Metta Let Kann on 10. August 2014. He recruited friends and interested members from his community to build a team, which grew to a big network with 5 staff and many volunteers across Tanintharyi State. When the conflic in Rakhine State got media attention, people started to spread hate speech against minorities, like Muslims, also in Myeik. People got afraid and serious religious conflicts were about to evolve. This is when Arkar Oo started with face-to-face interfaith work between Buddhists and Muslims. To reach more people to advocate for freedom between religions, Arkar Oo founded Metta Let Kann and recruited members and volunteers to help him work on peace for their community in Myeik. All their activities were self-funded and focused mainly on social work. MLK started as a small charity organisation, mainly doing social work and giving trainings about interfaith, human rights, advocacy, leadership, organisational development, civic engagement, and peace & development to different religious groups in and around Myeik. Between 2014-2017 Arkar Oo and his team organised public speeches and talks about peace and development every Sunday, held by politicians, activists, and religious leaders. MLK founded a peace and interfaith network to prevent religious conflicts, including all CSOs from Myeik district. Within this constantly expanding network we gave trainings focusing on distribution of fake news and hate speech, as well as citizen's rights. In 2018, Arkar Oo advocated to the government to create a new Network, including CSO members and people from the government. Accepting his suggestion, the government built an organisation across the district level, in order to identify fake news and inform the community about it. Arkar Oo was selected as representative to raise awareness and act against fake news and hate speech.

Currently, Arkar Oo lives together with his wife, two daughters, and a son in Myeik, Myanmar.
