Paolo Crivellaro (* 1960 in Arona) is an italian organist and professor at the University of Arts Berlin.
Biography
Paolo Crivellaro completed his studies in organ and piano in Milan (Conservatorio „Giuseppe Verdi“) and Basel. Later he took part in masterclasses among others by Luigi Ferdinando Tagliavini, Harald Vogel, Michael Radulescu, Marie-Claire Alain and Ton Koopman.
Since 2001 he is Professor of Organ at the “Universität der Künste” (University of Arts) of Berlin. As guest professor he is periodically invited by Universities and Hochschulen to hold masterclasses (Paris, Prague, Helsinki, Tokyo, Lyon, Göteborg, Seoul, St. Petersburg, Groningen, etc.).[1]
Between 1978 and 1992 he was responsible for the catalogueing of 215 historic organs for the National Trust for Artistic and Historical Treasures. His experience in the field of organ history and organ-building includes research and lectures, and he is author of a number of articles on the subject. In 2014, he published the book „Die Norddeutsche Orgelschule – Aufführungspraxis nach historischen Zitaten“ (Carus Verlag).[2]
Many the organ competitions in which he has been invited to be part of the judges’ panel: Odense International Organ Competition, Toulouse-les-Orgues, Prague Spring Music Festival, Innsbruck (Paul Hofheimer), Alkmaar (Internationaal Schnitger Orgelconcours), Freiberg (Silbermann Orgelwettbewerb), Linz (Anton Bruckner), Milan (Cathedral), Kotka (Finland Organ Competition), etc.
