Kota Iskandar (كوتا إسكندر) ist seit 2008 das administrative Zentrum des malaiischen Bundesstaates Johor und befindet sich in Nusajaya, etwa 25 km von Johor Bahru entfernt. Der Komplex wurde im Zuge des Nusajaya Projekts (Teil des Entwicklungsprojektes Iskandar Malaysia) errichtet und ist heute der Sitz der Regierung und des Sultans von Johor. Auch das im Sultan-Ibrahim-Gebäude ansässige Staatssekretariat ist seitdem Teil der Anlage.

Geschichte

Im Zuge des Stadtentwicklungsprojekts Iskandar Malaysia entstanden Überlegungen für einen neuen Regierungssitz. Dieser wurde in der Region Nusajaya gefunden und als erstes Projekt der dortigen Entwicklungszone verwirklicht. Benannt ist der Komplex nach dem 2010 verstorbenen Sultan Iskandar, der zum Beginn der Bautätigkeiten Schirmherr von Iskandar Malaysia war.

The administrative centre will consist of the State Assembly Building (now Bangunan Sultan Ismail), Chief Minister Complex (now Bangunan Dato' Jaafar bin Muhammad) and the Secretariat of the State of Johor. The buildings will face the kiblat (directions of Kaaba) and will be based on a Johor-Malay and Moorish architecture. The Chief Minister Complex and Secretary of State building will house the chief minister's office, state EXCO offices, Secretary of State office and many other departments.
