Olaf Koch (* 1 June 1970 in Bad Soden am Taunus) is a German Manager.

Life

Olaf Koch studied business management at the Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW) in Stuttgart, Germany. He began his professional career as Manager for Finance Process and Systems at Daimler-Benz AG in 1994. In 1996, he founded his own IT company and then returned to Daimler Group in 1998 (DaimlerChrysler AG). He became Director of Corporate e-Business Strategy and Corporate War Room at DaimlerChrysler AG in 1999 and was promoted as Vice President of Corporate e-Business in the following year. In 2002, he became Member of the Board of Management Mercedes Car Group and within this position he was responsible for Finance, Controlling and Strategy (DaimlerChrysler AG). Olaf Koch left Daimler in 2007 due to his new position as Managing Director Operations at Permira LLP, a private equity firm based in London.

In September 2009, he joined the Management Board of METRO AG as Chief Financial Officer. He became Chairman of the Management Board of METRO AG in January 2012, thereby replacing his predecessor Eckhard Cordes. He is appointed as Chairman until 13 September 2018 and within this position responsible for the company’s restructuring which he initiated as CFO.

Olaf Koch is married and has three children.
