The Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce & Industries (ACCI) has its headquarters in Kabul, Afghanistan.
Tasks
The Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce & Industries (ACCI), founded in 1931, is a non-profit, non-governmental and independent organization which advocates for the needs of a burgeoning afghan economy.
Strategically located at the intersection of public, investors, donors, academia, the media and international organizations, the Chamber of Commerce combines the interests of the afghan economy.
By providing access to a global network of partners, it opens up new markets for afghan products[1].
In 2007, the AICC[2] and the ACCI joined forces to form a Chamber of Commerce. In 2009, the framework for a uniform structure of the Chamber of Commerce was created with headquarters in Kabul.
The ACCI is the leading voice of a dynamic, competitive and fast-growing afghan economy[3]. To fulfill this mission, services and jobs will be provided and created.
In cooperation with local and international companies, the ACCI creates an enabling environment of the private sector, to promote prosperity in Afghanistan.
Organizational Profile
The ACCI is based in Kabul and has branches in 21 provinces[4]of Afghanistan. In 2009, the number of members was about 37,000 private sector organizations.
At the head of ACCI is an elected board, which monitors the strategic direction of the organization. The chambers in the provinces are headed by their respective boards.
In Germany, the United States of America, the Netherlands, the UAE (United Arab Emirates), Canada, the UK (United Kingdom), Russia, Turkey and Kazakhstan, the ACCI has got representative offices. Since 2007, Cornelia H. Lehmann represents the Afghan Chamber of Commerce in Germany, in order to get Afghanistan closer to the europeans and accelerate trade in afghan products.
