John Cummings/WYSE


WYSE International is a worldwide educational charity specialising in education and development for emerging leaders established in 1989. It is a non-governmental organization associated with the United Nations Department of Public Information[1][2]. It is based in London and branches in Italy, Brazil, Japan and The Netherlands and a worldwide network of alumni in more than 115 countries. The organization is run on a volunteer base and its trainers and educators are professional psychologists, leadership development trainers, educators, coaches and business people.[3].

WYSE International states its aims as "support emerging leaders for global change"

In 1989 the organisation was established as a not for profit educational organisation by a group of educationalists and psychologists led by Marilyn Feldberg. They conducted the first international project in 1989 in Celmi, Wales.

In 1992 the organisation was named World Youth Service and Enterprise (WYSE International) with a vision to bring young people from around the world together who wanted to make a positive contribution to their communities. Andrew McDowell then led the organisation to a focus on Leadership development and with a team of educators, psychologists and business people from around the world created the flagship WYSE International Leadership Programme.

1996 WYSE is registered as a UK Charity, with a brief to undertake charitable and consulting work both nationally and internationally, it's UK Registered UK Charity number is:105 3940.

1998 WYSE gained recognition as an official Non-Government Organisation (NGO) with the United Nations, Associated with the Department of Public Information (DPI). In time the organization focused increasingly more on leadership development, fostering among emerging leaders cooperative and participative ways to leadership such as servant leadership and visionary leadership.
