Since 2001:                            Arbitrator, Sole Practitioner; Member of Law Faculty of University of Cologne as Professor Emeritus.

Karl-Heinz Böckstiegel Lecture Series:

In 2011, a bi-annual lecture series was started by the DIS as "The Karl-Heinz Böckstiegel Lecture" at which the speakers were 2011 Meg Kinnear (Secretary General of ICSID) and John Beechey (President of the ICC International Court of Arbitration), in 2013 Prof. Albert Jan van den Berg (President of ICCA), 2015 Judge Bruno Simma (ICJ), 2017 Jan Paulsson, and 2019 Gabrielle Kaufmann-Kohler President of ICCA).

Awards 2019:                         In 2019, at a GAR Ceremony in Paris attended by 350,

                                  the Arbitral Award in ICSID case UPP v Hungary chaired by

                                  KHB was elected as the “Most Important Decision 2018”,

                                  and KHB was awarded the “Lifetime Achievement Award

                                  2019”.
