Benjamin Rath (* August 6, 1994 – March 19, 2017) was an Austrian karateka and European Champion in Gōjū-Ryū.[1]
Life
Rath took up karate lessons at the age of ten. After having trained at ASKÖ Karate Club Wolfsberg for several years, he switched to train under Marco Kassmannhuber at Inoue-ha Karate-do Feldkirchen. He was the first karateka to win the gold medal in the singles category at the European Gōjū-Ryū Karate Championships. Rath was one of Austria's most successful karateka.[1]
Rath died suddenly and unexpectedly at the age of 22.[1] The cause of death remains unclear.[2]

- 3rd place in the team category at the German Open Premier League K1 2015[3]
- 1st place in the team category at the World Gōjū-Ryū Karate Championships 2015[3]
- 1st place in the singles and team category at the European Gōjū-Ryū Karate Championships 2016[3]
- 1st place in the team category at the Austrian Championships 2015 and 2016[3]
- 5st place in the singles category at the European Universities Karate Championships 2016[3]
