Zainab Shabbir is a Pakistani television actress. Zainab has played the female lead in Sanwari (2018) and Emaan (2019) aired on Hum TV and LTN Family respectively. She further played supporting roles in Piya Naam Ka Diya (2019), Malaal-e-Yaar (2019) and an episodic role in anthology drama Haqeeqat (2019), Makafaat (2020) and Dikhawa (2020). She is known for playing supporting role of Ayat in Drama Mehar Posh. She is currently playing the lead role of Palwasha in Hum TV's Yaar Na Bichray.[1][2]

Career

After completing her studies in graduation, Zainab auditioned at Hum's talent organized by Momina Duraid and Sultana Siddiqui of Hum Network in 2018, she eventually passed the audition and was selected for a supporting role of Ishmal in Hum TV's soap opera Maa Sadqay (2018).[2] She went on to play the lead role of Ujala in Hum TV's another soap Sanwari (2018) opposite Usama Khan. According to Gulf News, she coloured her skin a few tones darker for the project and in an interview she said, "I am not insecure on that front. I believe that good work will take you places anyway".[3] Sanwari ran for 180 episodes and her appearance as a plain-clothed, middle-class girl is noted by the critics.[3] It marked the breakthrough for her and also earned her nomination for Best Soap Actress at Hum Awards.[3][4]

In 2019, she got her second lead role in Emaan. The serial ran for 73 episodes on LTN Family and she played a titular role of Emaan, a strong and independent girl in the series.[5] She further appeared as Aaliya in Saleem Ghanchi's directed Piya Naam Ka Diya opposite Saniya Shamshad and Farhan Malhi and as Minhal in Asad Jabal's directed Malaal-e-Yaar opposite Azekah Daniel and Mirza Zain Baig.[5] The later of which was a commercial and critical success.[4] In the same year, she made an episodic special appearance in anthology series Haqeeqat.Vorlage:Fact

In 2020, Zainab appeared in a supporting role of Ayat (Mehru's sister) in 7th Sky Entertainment's Mehar Posh. The show emerged as one of the highest rated Pakistani series of 2020.[6][7] She worked with acclaim actors Ayeza Khan, Danish Taimoor, Ali Abbas, Sania Saeed and Rehan Sheikh in the series.[1]
