The Bathtub is a german speaking short film directed by Tim Ellrich. The german-austrian independent production was realized in Vienna and Ludwigsburg. In 2016 the film won the Special Prize of the Jury at one of the worlds most prestigious short film festival, the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival. Moreover the film was chosen to be screened in the Kurzschluss-Programm of Arte and is internationally distributed by the Kurzfilmagentur Hamburg.[1]
Handlung
The brothers, Georg, Alexander and Niklas, are preparing an original present for their mother's 70th birthday. But the idea to re-enact an old bathtub picture from their childhood is way too stupid for the oldest one. Little by little they bare all and three brothers remain who have grown apart in the meanwhile.
Rezeption
The film follows a current internet trend, which startet with the photo series Back to the Future by the argentinien photographer Irina Werning. In that trend, people trie to reenact pictures from their childhood, putting a lot of attention on details like clothes, backround and pose, to imitate the original to the fullest.
