Pinky sl, let me help you with translation from english (this is commons source of confusion):
eng. "nationality" = hr., slo. "drzavljanstvo"
eng. ethnicity = hr, slo. "nacionalnost"
So, J. Plecnik had YU citizenship. Thus, he is Yugoslav (not ethnicly, but by citizenship). HTH. --Ante Perkovic 10:04, 9. Mai 2008 (CEST)
Accordingly, I just moved Herman Potočnik to Yugoslavs, although he might be Austrian. See Diskussion:Herman Potočnik.

Rules for Balkans
Hi, Pinky
I understand your frustration regarding "Slovenians" and "Yugoslavs", but the rules (or guidelines) here seams to be somewhat different than you would expect.
According to WP:RSOE (Rules for South East Europe), all Slovenians who died before 15. 1. 1992 (when Germany recognised Cro and Slo.), or even who didn't do anything important after that moment, are to be considered Yugoslavs (or Austrians, for those from before 1918). So far, many Slovenians are still called Slovenians, but not for long.
Those rules are still unoficial, but might become official as soon as user:Aspiriniks finishes them. Regardless of the fact that those rules are unoficcial, you might be blocked for breaking it.
So far, I didn't find any evidence of compromise on this issue (see w:WP:CON).
J budissin, Aspiriniks, Fossa and some other users claim that they are basicaly just implementing some basic rules regarding citizenship and that people from Balkans (including Slovenia) can't be as objective as Germans on this issue.
I still didn't have time to check what is the case with people from ex-Checkoslovaia and SSSR. I don't know if they are all Checkoslovak ot there might be a few Checks and Slovaks :).
I'm an admin on hr wiki and we have similar problems there. Sometimes, it is very hard to make any rule. There is so many strange exceptions.
I even thought of trying to suggest my own rules here, based on my rich experience on hr wiki, but I'm too tired of fighting.
BTW, how old are you? If you older than 35 and served JNA, you might understand croatian. I have no problem with english, so you can chose.
