Please Stop for the monent

Hi, please stop your bot-activiy for the moment. It seems that the szl: is currently missing in the interlanguage config here. You creating lot a redlinks in many artikels. I'm investigating this on WP:AN#Partnerprojekt szl. Until this is solved please stop. Thanks. --JuTa Talk 00:40, 27. Mai 2008 (CEST)

Thanks for stopping ... :) --JuTa Talk 01:19, 27. Mai 2008 (CEST)

Why is your bot adding commons-templates to CATEGORIES?

We usually don't do this here if there's a main article. --Asthma 22:02, 26. Jun. 2008 (CEST)

The main advantage of having Commonscats is that it strengthens the links between topics, categories and Commons. This will open up many more possibilities for semantic linking. One of the immediate advantages can be observed in Daniel's WikiSense, which uses links to categories and Commons for semi-intelligent suggestions of categories for images on Commons. Cheers! SieBot 00:01, 27. Jun. 2008 (CEST) (written by Siebrand of course)
I still fail to see the advantages. Sounds like a lot of hot air that could still be achieved either way through the incorporation of main articles. --Asthma 07:03, 27. Jun. 2008 (CEST)
Suit yourself. As far as I know I am enriching data in a non-intruisive, consistent and logical manner. Cheers! 145.243.181.51 07:52, 27. Jun. 2008 (CEST)
As far as I know, you are spamming in a redundant and half-assed manner (for instance, the link text should be displaying PAGENAME, not the english category name). Stop this, formulate a reasonable rationale on WP:KAT or some other guideline page and then we can talk. Otherwise I will remove this clutter from the category pages I watch. --Asthma 08:12, 27. Jun. 2008 (CEST)
Having {{PAGENAME}} as display name is not that hard. It should be configured in the template. As the template is protected, I cannot change that. It should simply display PAGENAME if {{{1}}} is not available. Cheers! Siebrand 15:20, 27. Jun. 2008 (CEST)
It should, but it doesn't, so the responsibility lies on your side. --Asthma 17:04, 27. Jun. 2008 (CEST)
Not really. Checking out the category namespace I have found enough precedent for {{commonscat}} or {{commons}} being used without a second parameter. I have now removed 99%+ of the double tags in the category namespace. I am in the process of converting {{commons|category: to {{commonscat| to prevent further issues. When replace.py is done, I will recommence the adding of commonscat templates where they are not present. As soon as the template is fixed, the descriptions will also be fixed. Thank you for your help. Cheers! Siebrand 17:27, 27. Jun. 2008 (CEST)
"Not really. Checking out the category namespace I have found enough precedent for {{commonscat}} or {{commons}} being used without a second parameter." - Other people's lousy work is not a "predecent" you can take as an excuse for your own shoddy work. Meanwhile, I still don't see the point of commons-templates in categories which have main articles. Accordingly, I will remove these. --Asthma 18:24, 27. Jun. 2008 (CEST)
Not seeing a purpose and removing information are two different things. I urge you in the strongest terms possible to not do that. Thank you. Siebrand 19:23, 27. Jun. 2008 (CEST)
I support everything Asthma said. As you see, your curent work is not fully welcome within the German community and is not backed by consensus. Furthermore the bot violates the rule, that bots might not work elsewhere but within the main namespace without having requested and discussed it adequately on Wikipedia Diskussion:Bots. If you should start your bot again without being backed by the community and having discussed this changes in an adequate manner, I will understand this as vandalism and block this account indefinitely. seein #Why is your bot adding commons-templates to CATEGORIES? - seems for me that this action is disputed anyways. Please stop you activities until the disput is solved. ...Sicherlich Post 09:05, 27. Jun. 2008 (CEST)
It looks like you did not give me a chance to stop the bot but blocked it. Can you please inform me how to get it unblocked? Cheers! Siebrand 15:16, 27. Jun. 2008 (CEST)
it was only blocked for 1 hour ...Sicherlich Post 15:17, 27. Jun. 2008 (CEST)

i know :oD ... ehm this is just "Quellcodekosmetik" (source code make up?) - please dont do sth. like that; Its not a benefit to change a working link to an other working one. Thx ...Sicherlich Post 17:42, 27. Jun. 2008 (CEST)
It is not a cosmetic change. There is a robot that actually uses this in an interwiki sense to add commonscat templates to categories on other wikis. In a general sense, the template Commons is used in the main namespace, and the template Commonscat is used in the Category namespace, or in the main namespace if no gallery is present for the subject on Commons. It is like this in the German language Wikipedia, and in dozens of other Wikipedias. I hope you are able to have a broader view than only the German language Wikipedia when it comes to connecting information in a multi-language web (look at it as resolving redirects) - it eases automatic processing. Please trust me if I tell you this is important. Thank you for your understanding. Gruss, Siebrand 17:48, 27. Jun. 2008 (CEST)
As long as this supposed bot supposedly adding semantic informations cannot even handle main articles of categories for retrieving commons informations, I seriously doubt this matter can be important enough to let you clutter up category pages and watch lists with redundant nonsense. --Asthma 18:26, 27. Jun. 2008 (CEST)
so it is cosmetic; it does not change anything for the reader. Tell your bot that this is the same; it is not changing anything for connecting informations; so the broad view is not touched ...Sicherlich Post 17:59, 27. Jun. 2008 (CEST)

Stopp

Why do you add the template starting with a small letter?

omg. I'll stop my bot immediately and change the command to use a capital "C". Please be advised: this is extremely irrelevant as it is wiki code and never, ever visible in the rendered page. Cheers! Siebrand 17:41, 27. Jun. 2008 (CEST)
Done Siebrand 17:43, 27. Jun. 2008 (CEST)

I know that, but there are people that will make an edit just to change that. Plus, I'm really pissed by your action. We keep telling people in wikipedia de not make unnecessary edits. It took you three edits in thousands of categories, just to exchange one working template by another one. I'd love to know the reason for exchanging the template, by the way. Regarding that, it is even not that annoying that your action was completely unannounced, or was it. If you do something like that, it is the least, to drop a note somewhere. I really think you ought to take more care and be more responsible operating a bot. Cheers -- cwbm 11:07, 28. Jun. 2008 (CEST)

Blocked again

I stoped your bot again. As long as a discussion is going on if that what the bot is doing is useful you should not run the bot. I told you before --> you ignored --> i blocked ...Sicherlich Post 19:29, 27. Jun. 2008 (CEST)

Interwiki link in article de:Torr

Hi, your bot participates in a edit war, changing the norwegian interwiki link in article de:Torr forth and back from no: mmHg to no:MmHg. Could you please investigate what is happening here? --Ulm 20:20, 23. Sep. 2008 (CEST)

Falscher Interwiki-Link (Wrong Interwiki-Link)

Nackas 10:10, 6. Mai 2009 (CEST)
