Diskussion:Earle K. Plyler
Vergebliche Anfrage bei der "Library of Congress" wegen LCCN / VIAF Nummer für Plyler.
Ich habe vor ein paar Tagen folgende Anfrage an die Libary of Congress gestellt:
[Question]: Dear Madam, dear Sir,
during update work on Wikipedia [...] I noticed that Professor Earle K Plyler, who was one of the leading Molecular Spectroscopists of his time, does not have a specific LOC author signature. Consequently, he is also not listed in global indexing systems such as VIAF. In your catalogue and also in World Cat you find a number of publications of Plyler:
http://www.worldcat.org/search?q=au%3APlyler%2C+Earle+Keith%2C&qt=hot_author
A specific entry at the Library of Congress:
https://catalog.loc.gov/vwebv/holdingsInfo?searchId=22037&recCount=25&recPointer=0&bibId=8429932
Thank you, kind regards,
[....]
und folgende Antwort erhalten:
The records of his in our catalog are old, retrospective conversion records. Most of those do not have name authority records and we do not create name authority records for these older records from before about 1970. If we catalog an item by or about him now, a name authority will be generated at that time either by LC or by one of our over 400 partner libraries around the world.
Weiss jemand, was man hier tun kann?

Es gibt nur eine ISNI für Plyler
Die ISNI ist im Weblinks Teil verlinkt. Bei WorldCat gibt es etliche Bücher, die Plyler über das "National Bureau of Standards" herausgegeben hat.
