Ernst David (1864 - c. 1918) was a German Schriftsetzer (typesetter), Buchdrucker (book printer) and Instrumentenmacher (musical instrument maker) in the city of Bielefeld, Germany. By the time he was twenty, (in 1885) it is believed he already was doing business under his own name. By 1888 he was making musical instruments. By 1904 his business had grown to become a small instrument factory. After his death the factory kept the name of Ernst David, but was owned by his son Albert David.
As an instrument maker the Ernst David company specialized in making brass instruments, many of which were used by Posaunen choirs (brass church music) in Protestant congregations around Germany and beyond. Some Ernst David instruments are still in regular use, while others can be found in musical instrument collections.
Presently it is not clear when the instrument factory stopped operating; most likely it was during World War II.

1945 erlosch in Bielefeld die Firma Ernst David.

Diese Info stammt von [1] - Finke ist also nicht der Nachfolger, eine entsprechende Anfrage von mir an die Firma wurde nicht beantwortet. Der Beitrag im New Langwill Index dürfte somit nicht stimmen. --Berndt Meyer 22:14, 3. Jan. 2007 (CET)
Ich werde das noch mal recherchieren. Aber richtig an der Löschung ist, daß der Zusatz (wenn er der denn doch richtig sein sollte), eigentlich nur dann sinnvol istt, wenn es auch ein Lemma "Helmur Finke" gibt, das ich bei Gelegenheit anlegen werde. -- Uka 23:10, 3. Jan. 2007 (CET)
