Verwechselungsgefahr?

Es gibt offensichtlich noch ein gleichnamiges Spiel von Anfang der 1980er:

  • Moria auf Fredrik Ekmans Tolkien Computer Games Pages
  • Aus Martyn Carroll: Return of the Rings. RetroGamer 01 (2004?), S. 20.: "Shadowfax is a solid gold classic when compared to Moria – a game released in the same year [1982] on the Spectrum, C64 and Oric-1. You played Gandalf in this too and your aim was to retrieve Durin’s ring from the mines of Moria. It sounded intriguing until you realised Moria was depicted as a 11x11 square grid and your position was marked with a letter G. As you moved from square to square you would stumble upon enemies. Here you could choose to fight or run and that was about as interactive as the game ever got."

Moria oder Umoria?

Firstly, my apologies for writing in English.

My changes for the metadata were reverted due to the following two reasons: "Wilson was not involved in the original development", and "A port is not credited as design, plus the other changes lack citation".

While it is true that James E. Wilson was not involved in the original development, the work he did while porting Moria to the C language (Umoria) also involved much enhancement to the original game play. Considering that the canonical version of Moria that anyone has been played over the last 30 years is Umoria - not the original VMS pascal Moria - I believe his name should be attached. The problem with Moria and Umoria is that really they are the same game, Umoria being more of a continuation than just a port. The only version of Moria that anyone has played over the last 30 years is Umoria. A decision needs to be made whether this article should talk about the game "Dungeons of Moria" or the codebase for the game. In my mind Moria and Umoria are the same; not a variant like Angband is.

However, if this article should only be about the original VMS Pascal version of the Moria game, then other parts of the article should be updated to reflect this. Platforms: probably just "VAX-11/780 minicomputer" (Amiga, DOS, etc., are only for Umoria). The last "Moria" version was v4.8 in 1986 (anything of v5.x is Umoria). Also, some of the links are to pages for Moria games based on Umoria 5.5 (e.g. kMoria and the one at MobyGames), so these should be removed as they are incorrect when talking about VMS Moria 4.8.

As for citations: most of this information comes from the source code of both VMS Moria (https://github.com/dungeons-of-moria/vms-moria) and Umoria (https://github.com/dungeons-of-moria/umoria/tree/v5.5.2). I've spent a lot of time inside the source code and related docs trying to get an accurate picture on the history for this game.

no problem about the language, you're most welcome here. The infobox should provide an overview only and should not go into detail. Details should go into the text. The article is not in a good shape; the paragraph "Produktionsnotizen" should depict the development history but currently mainly deals with licences. I can offer two things - if you provide English text (with citation) I can translate it short-hand, or if you provide sources I can read and compile them, but I'd do that when I'm really bored as I have a few more things on my agenda. ;-) The English article looks a bit better, but not that much actually. I have a feeling there's a lot more to tell about Moria/UMoria. I know the game from way back when but don't have sources at hand, but I'm willing to help with everything I can help with.
