Atomwaffen gegen Luftziele ?

Sicher das es eine "Luft-Luft-Rakete" gewesen ist? Ich würde eher eine Luft-Boden-Rakete vermuten. Atomwaffen sind doch normalerweise für den Einsatz gegen Bodenziele konzipiert. Und die Bedeutung von EMP dürfte doch erst später, mit zunehmender Computerisierung, ins Blickfeld gerückt worden sein.

Nein es war eine (ungelenkte) Luft-Luft-Rakete - die AIR-2 Genie. (der Abschuss ist auch in einem Buch von mir erwähnt (Flugzeugtypen der Welt, ISBN 3860475932) auch dort steht ungelenkte Luft-Luft-Rakete. -- sgt_bilko Diskussion 19:57, 1. Apr. 2008 (CEST)

Radar, AP, FCS

Das wirklich interesante am Flugzeug fehlt im Artikel. "The rockets were directed by the new Hughes E-6 FCS system and its AN/APG-40 radar, the E-6 automatically directing the Scorpion towards its target to an optimum firing position. The E-6 in principle permitted "collision course intercepts", with the Scorpion approaching the target from its forward quadrant and firing rockets to destroy it as the paths of the two aircraft intersected. In a more traditional "tail chase" attack, the interceptor would line up behind the target for shots, but in a collision course intercept there was effectively only one chance to get it right. That was why the unguided rockets were used: although they were notoriously inaccurate, it seemed likely that if a salvo was launched against a target the size of a bomber, one rocket would hit, and that would be enough to take the target down. Rockets could be launched in one, two, or three salvos, either manually or under the automatic direction of the fire-control system." Flugkörperleitflugzeug ?

Was hat man sich darunter vorzustellen ? Wurden F-89 nicht eher als Zielflugzeug (Zieldarsteller) für die neuartigen Luft-Luft-Raketen verwendet ? - Danke. --129.187.244.28 07:18, 24. Apr. 2013 (CEST)
