Not official sport
Sorry, but I don't know German well, so I will speak English. The IOC results database has no mention of water polo at the 1904 games, so this event might be unofficial --VovanA 13:38, 8. Apr. 2008 (CEST)
- In my opinion, the IOC database is not very reliable (just look at the medal winners summary pages on the English wikipedia and count the footnotes regarding mistakes). According to my printed sources, the tournament was open to amateurs and foreigners. Therefore it can be considered an olympic event. Some German swimmers were interested in participating but were rejected by the officials because they were not in the same club. --Voyager 14:24, 8. Apr. 2008 (CEST)
- Here nothing is written about 1904 --VovanA 15:33, 8. Apr. 2008 (CEST)
- So what? This only shows that the IOC does not present its history accurately. I checked the information in two different books by notable sports historians. Both say that the 1904 water polo tournament can be considered an olympic event. --Voyager 15:58, 8. Apr. 2008 (CEST)
- Well, I only want to say that Russian and Dutch wikipedias changed the position. If you wish, you can leave everything --VovanA 18:03, 8. Apr. 2008 (CEST)
