"Das Chöd ist eine Dakini Praxis („schwarze Dakini des unbarmherzigen Mitgefühls“), die Teil des Troma Nakmo ist. Im Chöd schneidet man das eigene Ego ab. Es ist ein Heilritual und Karmaauflösung. In Tibet gilt sie als eine der kraftvollsten Meditationspraktiken. Die Yogini oder der Yogi opfern in der Vision das eigene Ego in Form des eigenen Körpers, lädt alle karmischen Schuldner ein und reinigt seine Dimension durch energetischen Ausgleich und Opferung."

In the Nyingma, the dakini is guardian of the secret oral, or 'whispered ear' tradition and so always serves as the third root. In the other Tibetan Buddhist schools, the 'Sarma' schools, there are many different forms of protector. The protector in these schools may be a dakini or any of a variety of oath-bound spirits, subdued by tantric yogi or yogini."

In a vision, Yeshe Tsogyal was told by a dakini that Guru Rinpoche held the lineage of the T'hröma practice.
