Nuklidkarte
Eine Nuklidkarte (auch Isotopenkarte, Isotopentafel) ist eine grafische Darstellung aller bekannten Nuklide (Atomsorten). Sie ist für die Kernphysik von ähnlicher Bedeutung wie das Periodensystem der Elemente für die Chemie.
Ein Nuklid ist durch die Anzahlen seiner Protonen und Neutronen bestimmt. Daher bietet sich eine zweidimensionale Darstellung aus kleinen Schriftfeldern an, in denen Namen und wichtige Eigenschaften genannt werden. Es sind verschiedene Anordnungen der Felder möglich. In der meist verwendeten Form nach Segrè wird die Anzahl der Protonen nach oben zunehmend, die der Neutronen nach rechts zunehmend aufgetragen.
Nuklidkarten listen jeweils einige Eigenschaften der Nuklide auf, wie die Massenzahl, Häufigkeit im natürlichen Element, Halbwertszeit, Zerfallsarten und Zerfallsenergien. Oft werden die Nuklide nach ihren Zerfallseigenschaften (stabil, radioaktiv, Zerfallsart, Halbwertszeit-Größenordnung) farbig markiert. Kernisomere lassen sich darstellen, indem das jeweilige Feld in Spalten unterteilt wird.
Weitverbreitet ist die Karlsruher Nuklidkarte.

Segrè-Darstellung
Verschiedene Gruppen von verwandten Nukliden sind in der Segrè-Nuklidkarte leicht beschreibbar:
- Isotope sind Nuklide mit gleicher Ordnungszahl (Protonenzahl bzw. Kernladungszahl). Sie stehen jeweils in einer Zeile nebeneinander. Sie gehören zu ein und demselben chemischen Element und besitzen daher sehr ähnliche chemische Eigenschaften.
- Isotone sind Nuklide mit gleicher Neutronenzahl. Sie stehen jeweils in einer Spalte untereinander.
- Isobare sind Nuklide mit gleicher Nukleonenzahl (Massenzahl, Protonenzahl + Neutronenzahl). Sie stehen jeweils in einer Diagonalen von links oben nach rechts unten.
- Isodiaphere sind Nuklide mit gleichem Neutronenüberschuss. Sie stehen jeweils in einer Diagonalen von links unten nach rechts oben.
Gedrehte Segrè-Darstellung
Die Segrè-Anordnung ist optimiert für die Querformat-Darstellung, wie sie für Wandkarten oder Bilder üblich ist. Als vergleichsweise großes Diagramm ist aber auf Computermonitoren in Verbindung mit dem üblichen vertikalem Scrollen die Hochformatdarstellung günstiger. Daher ist hier die „von links unten nach rechts oben“ verlaufende Segrè-Anordnung gedreht worden, indem die Protonenzahl (Ordnungszahl des Elements) nach rechts ansteigend und die Neutronenzahl nach unten ansteigend angeordnet ist. Die Darstellung ist also gegenüber der Segrè-Anordnung um 90 Grad im Uhrzeigersinn gedreht. Die Nuklide mit gleicher Ordnungszahl (Protonenzahl, Kernladungszahl) stehen in Spalten, die Nuklide mit gleicher Neutronenzahl in Zeilen.
Radioaktive Zerfälle und Kernreaktionen auf der Nuklidkarte
In Nuklidkarten lassen sich radioaktive Zerfälle leicht verfolgen. In der hier gewählten gedrehten Darstellung gilt:
- Bei einem Alphazerfall trägt das Alphateilchen zwei Protonen und zwei Neutronen fort, das Tochternuklid findet sich also zwei Spalten links vom Mutternuklid und zwei Zeilen höher.
- Beim Beta-minus-Zerfall wird aus einem Neutron ein Proton, das Tochternuklid befindet sich also einen Schritt weiter rechts oben.
- Umgekehrt wird beim Beta-plus-Zerfall und auch beim Elektroneneinfang aus einem Proton ein Neutron, das Tochternuklid befindet sich also einen Schritt weiter links unten.
- Bei einem Isomerieübergang ändert sich der Platz nicht.
- Auch den meisten Kernreaktions-Typen entsprechen bestimmte Platzänderungen des betroffenen Atomkerns. Beispielsweise verschiebt eine (n,p)-Reaktion den Kern um einen Schritt nach links unten (wie beim Beta-plus-Zerfall), eine (n,2n)-Reaktion einen Schritt nach oben usw.

Für jedes Isotop gibt die Hintergrundfarbe eine Orientierung für die Halbwertszeit. Stabile Isotope sind schwarz gekennzeichnet.
