Vom 1. bis zum 31. Mai 2022 konnten Bilder für den Fotowettbewerb Wiki Loves Earth Deutschland eingereicht werden. Die Fotos müssen in Schutzgebieten aufgenommen worden sein oder geschützte Einzelobjekte (Naturdenkmale, Geotope) aus Deutschland zeigen. Für die Teilnehmer werden zahlreiche Preise ausgelobt. Über die Preisträger entscheidet eine Jury. Die fünfzehn von ihr am besten bewerteten Fotografien, die die internationalen Kriterien erfüllen, ziehen ins internationale Finale ein.
