Deva Premal (*1970 in Deutschland), ist eine Musikerin aus der New Age Szene. Ihre Musik ist geprägt durch Meditative, alte Hinduistische Mantras. Seit 1991 Tourt Deva zusammen mit ihrem Lebenspartner Miten durch die Welt und bietet neben Konzerten auch zahlreiche Workshops an. 600.000 Alben wurden laut Prabhu Music verkauft.
Deva ist bekannt für ihre Chant Alben. Sie ist eine klassisch ausgebildete Musikerin und eine begabte Sängerin.

Goa Gil (*6. Oktober 1951 in den USA als Gilbert Levey) ist ein amerikanischer DJ und Goa-party Organisator. Er ist einer der Mitbegründer des Goa trance & der Psytrance-bewegung.
Goa Gil wurde am 6. Oktober 1951 in den USA geboren. Er wuchs in San Francisco, und verbrachte dort seine Jugend. Geprägt wurde er durch die Hippie-bewegung, die in Haight-Ashbury (ugs.: "Hashbury" von Haschisch), in den 60ern dort besonders stark ausgeprägt war, so, das diese Viertel noch heute ein Synonym für die Hippie-bewegung ist. Als 1969 der Höhepunkt der Hippie-Bewegung in den USA abnahm, wanderte er aus. Zuerst lebte er eine Zeit lang in Amsterdam. Später zog er nun endgültig in den indischen Bundesstaat Goa, wo die Hippie-Bewegung noch lange Zeit sehr intensiv weiter lebte.

During the early 1980s, many Goa hippies were becoming increasingly fascinated with early electronic music such as Kraftwerk. Gil and his friends soon gathered some equipment and started DJing and playing live music all night long on the Goa beaches. The mix of outdoor electronic dance parties with Eastern mystical and spiritual overtones came to define the aesthetic of the psytrance movement. For Gil, dance is an active form of meditation and the use of trance music is a way to "redefine the ancient tribal ritual for the 21st century". During the 1990s, the aesthetic of the Goa trance movement spread by way of European and Israeli backpackers who attended parties in India. Nowadays, Gil is still based in Goa for several months of the year, and spends the rest of his time travelling and throwing parties, notably in Northern California.
Gil is married to Ariane MacAvoy, herself a child of French Goan "freaks". Together they formed the band the Nommos with Peter Zigelmeier of Kode IV.

Hamish Imlach
Hamish Imlach (*10. Februar, 1940; †1. Januar, 1996) war ein Folksinger. Er wurde in Kalkutta geboren, lebte allerdings den Rest seines Lebens in Schottland. Imlach war und ist ein überwältigender Folk-Musiker der einiges von Humor verstand und Zeit seines Lebens regelmäßig auf Tournee ging. Obwohl er in den USA, wie in anderen "Musikstielkreisenkaum" kaum bekannt war, war er eine Inspiration für zum Beispiel John Martyn oder Billy Connolly

That same year, Imlach, along with Josh MacRae and Bobby Campbell, recorded six tracks (released as three singles) of Irish Rebel songs for the Decca/Beltona label. They made the recordings as the Emmettones, and one track, "Bold Robert Emmett", reached number 1 in the Irish charts. Hamish Imlach lebte von 1940 bis 1996, er hatte im Allgemeinen den Ruf eines Entertainers und Spaßmachers, er sang viel über Lustiges, Skuriles, Alkohol und seine Folgen. Aber das war nicht Alles, er konnte sehr traditional und auch sehr ernsthaft sein. Auch politische und sozialkritische Songs gehörten zu seinem Repertoire. Manche nannten Ihn einen Kommunisten, er selbst nannte sich einen "Wischiwaschi-Liberalen".
Seine Großzügigkeit galt als legendär, er half vielen jungen Künstlern in den Anfängen seiner Karriere und war für viele ein guter Freund fürs Leben. Man erzählt sich viele Geschichten über ihn, unter anderem auch die, daß er für 800 Leute bei einem festival ein sehr gutes indisches Essen spendierte. Er spielte gerne den Clown, aber er war auch sehr ernsthaft, er war jemand, auf den man sich verlassen konnte. Seine von ihm verfaßte Autobiographie "Cod Liver Oil And The Orange Juice" hhatte er selbst den Untertitel "Reminiscences of a fat folk singer" gegeben. Ich kenne seine Todesursache nicht, wenn sie jemand kennt, bitte schreibt sie mir, damit ich es ergänzen kann.
He had his biggest hit in the late 1960s with "Cod Liver Oil and the Orange Juice," a scurrilous and hilarious take on the American gospel standard "Virgin Mary Had a Little Baby" written by Ron Clark and Carl MacDougall. The song was banned by the BBC as it was assumed to be full of double meanings, but at one point became the most requested song on British Forces Radio.
He was described by Ewan McVicar, the Scottish storyteller and singer, as "a raconteur who taught Billy Connolly, a singer who taught Christy Moore, a blues guitarist who taught John Martyn".

Having grown up with the Irish charts from the beginning I have no memory of Emmettones and after consulting "The Larry Gogan Book Of Irish Chart Hits" I find that there is no mention there, therefore I feel your earlier contributer has got their facts wrong.
