Peelennium
Peelennium (bisweilen auch Peelenium) ist eine Auswahl von Songs aus den Jahren von 1900 bis 2000, die der englische Radiomoderator John Peel in den letzten hundert Sendungen des Jahres 1999 seiner BBC-Radioshow ausstrahlte.[1][2][3]
Geschichte
Für Peelennium wählten John Peel und sein Team mindestens vier Songs aus jedem Jahr des Zeitraums 1900 bis 2000 aus. In jeder Sendung wurden die ausgewählten Songs eines Jahres gespielt.
Zielsetzung des Peelenniums war einerseits ein Programm zur Feier des Millenniums, andererseits ein Rückblick auf die wechselnden Ausprägungen der populären Musik des zurückliegenden Jahrhunderts und deren jeweiliger Einfluss auf unsere heutige Musik.
Die Ausstrahlung des Peelenniums begann am Donnerstag, dem 13. Mai 1999 mit dem Jahr 1900.
