About Korean Wikipedia

I am Korean so I can't translate well Korean to English. In the Other Language [ In anderen Sprachen ] Link of 'Main page' there is no Korean page. Please Insert ko:위키백과:대문 at the main page. --Ho949494 13:00, 5. Jun. 2010 (CEST)

Some years ago the community decided not to have to many interlanguage links at the main page. One reason was that the list of these links is longer than the main page itself (by using monobook skin). There is a rule set which should help to find a compromise in length of the list: The biggest Wikipedias (15), the most spoken languages world wide (4), in Europe (10) and in the German language area (10), all languages neighboring the German language area, all German dialects, all languages of historical minorities within the German speaking countries and the 10 most spoken foreign languages of native German speakers. While some of these languages are included in this list several times and some aren't selected for quality or size issues, the Korean language isn't covered by any of these rules.
On the other hand, most people will come from article pages via interwiki links to other Wikipedias–not by using the interwikilink at the main page. --32X 14:13, 5. Jun. 2010 (CEST)

Aiuto per traduzione

Buon giorno.

I would also like to suggest Büro für Flugunfalluntersuchungen (en:Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau) WhisperToMe 08:56, 25. Aug. 2010 (CEST)

And also the Giddings Deutsches Volksblatt (en:Giddings Deutsches Volksblatt) WhisperToMe 09:09, 26. Aug. 2010 (CEST)

I'm sorry, but active authors have no shortage of articles to write. So, we are not terribly in need of article requests. However, you could post your translation requests on Wikipedia:Übersetzungswünsche. --Rosentod 09:57, 26. Aug. 2010 (CEST)
Well, I have a belief that these subjects do need articles in German, even if there are also other things to do too. Some subjects will have more interest to German speakers than others, or there are more sources in German compared to other possible topics.
I am happy to post the requests at Übersetzungswünsch

English: Hi. I am active on the French and English versions of Wikipedia and on Commons, and once in a while, I happen to find pictures not yet added to the German, and other language versions of WP. But, pictures I've added here stay in the pending queue for days or weeks. Should I keep adding these pictures here? Cordially. Bouchecl 01:49, 21. Sep. 2010 (CEST)

Cordialement. Bouchecl 01:49, 21. Sep. 2010 (CEST)

Just go on adding them, people will come along and mark it. Alternatively you could go to Wikipedia:Gesichtete Versionen/Anfragen and hit Neuen Sichtungswunsch eintragen (add new review request) and write the article name into the template. --32X 08:40, 21. Sep. 2010 (CEST)
Thanks. I'll add this information in my User page. Bouchecl 20:52, 21. Sep. 2010 (CEST)

Translating en:Deekshabhoomi to German language

Hello! I am en:Shivashree from India. I have been working on a project to translate the article en:Deekshabhoomi in major languages of the world.

Deekshabhoomi is a historical place in India where about 380,000 depressed class people converted to Buddhism on October 14, 1956 along with their leader Dr. B. R. Ambedkar. There is 55th anniversary of the event in the next month. We are trying to translate this article in major world languages by the time of this occasion. This article has already been a DYK article on English Wikipedia. It has been translated in Japanese through this project. Thai translation is being done. Urdu stub has been created. I would appreciate if someone of you can translate it to German.

Please let me know on my English Wikipedia talk page if someone is interested in this project. Shivashree 12:15, 27. Sep. 2010 (CEST)

Odd cross-wiki behaviour by someone in Germany; sometimes includes edit-warring and disruptive page creation

An en.wikipedia editor recently requested[1] administrators block an anonymous editor (see w:en:User talk:84.61.131.141) who was disruptively creating unnecessary pages that then needed deletion. I did this then looking further at what was going on. I found an extensive pattern of cross-wiki editing by an anonymous editor in Germany in 2009 and 2010. This included vandalism as well as benign edits and this person's IP addresses had been blocked at different times on different projects. I have catalogued some of this on a user subpage of mine:

This person seemed to have some interesting habits, including:

 • Creating almost 300 unnecessary, irrelevant and sometimes offensive article talk page redirects on en.wikipedia. Some were re-created many times (this person clearly doesn't like certain German train stations!)
 • Asking numerous, often interesting, open-ended questions at en.wikipedia's reference desks (Auskunft)
 • In June 2009, edit-warring on it and fr.wikipedia over their "ß" articles:
 • This person seems very well-informed and highly educated, especially in mathematics
 • This person seems widely multilingual and very, very fluent in English; he or she just as easily might be German or one of the millions of foreigners in Germany.

Here's an example of the user's behaviour; using his most recent IP, 84.61.131.141, he edited many projects over the last several weeks:

To my surprise, despite hundreds of disruptive edits, nobody on en.wikipedia seems to have seen a pattern and "connected the dots" across the 40+ IP addresses this person has used. Are de.wikipedia administrators familiar with this person? Do you have anything to add to our understanding of him or her? Do you have any suggestions? Have you found a non-punitive way to engage with this person to minimize their disruption?

Thanks,

Looks like a well known vandal, specialy that part with redirects looks very familiar. Check Benutzer:Entlinkt/Troll and Benutzer:Seewolf/Troelle#Unsinnsweiterleitungen -- Baird's Tapir 18:27, 17. Okt. 2010 (CEST)

Tunnels du Gotthard

Bonjour,

--Kolossos 09:27, 17. Nov. 2010 (CET)

a list of keywords

Hello,

I'm doing my project into language processing and I'm using Wikipedia. I want to use several languages in the tests, included the one of this versions. And since I need some articles to analyze I wanted to ask for your help. Precisely, some keywords I will explain now.

Actually what I am looking for is a list in your language with the names of those territories which represents an entity of speakers (therefore possible wikipedia contributors) of your language, the name its people or gentilic, and the name of the language (if it is the same language and it has a different name). These territories must be in practice independent from each others or at least be considered so by the speakers. This is the case of colonies, excolonies, other countries which historically speak the same language or minorities attached into the country next to yours.

For example, a list in english something like. "english", "england", "irish", "ireland", "scottish", "scotland", "british", "united_kingdom", "american", "united_states", "canada", "canadian", "australia", "australian", "new_zealand", "new_zealander". Probably there are some others which are not very big but I don't know cuz I'm not familiar.

If you were so kind to produce me this list, I would so appreciate it! Thank you very much!

--Micrib 01:05, 20. Nov. 2010 (CET)

I must confess, that I don't understand this. Maybe you should ask at Wikipedia:Auskunft for your list. Regards, --Flominator 09:24, 8. Dez. 2010 (CET)
Please extract your list from en:German language. --Rosentod 09:45, 8. Dez. 2010 (CET)
